
On April 17, 2025, the salon themed "International Trade Restructuring and Risk Management under the China-US Tariff War" (the “Salon” or “Event”), co-hosted by the Capital Market Research Center and the Cross-Border Finance Research Center of Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institute, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE-DAFI), and co-organized by Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center, was successfully held at Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District. Experts from academia, financial institutions, and the business circle gathered at the Event and conducted in-depth discussion on risk response and changes in the trade pattern amid China-US trade frictions, for the purpose of helping enterprises clarify response thinking and seek solutions to overcome adversities in the current complex international environment.
The Event was presided over by CHU Yile, Director of the Strategic Cooperation Department of SUFE-DAFI.

At the beginning of the Salon, Mr. YANG Xubo, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (“Hongqiao CBD”) stated in his speech that as a frontier platform that supported enterprises in going global, Hongqiao CBD kept optimizing the policy supports and service ecosystems, thus giving full play to its supporting functions and government service functions, assisting enterprises in accurately accessing various types of information and professional services needed for international development, effectively preventing operational risks in the international market, and guaranteeing enterprises' expansion in the overseas market.

In the keynote speech session, LI Jiangyuan, Associate Professor of SUFE-DAFI and Director of the Master of Cross-border Finance Program, delivered a speech titled "From Frictions to Structural Game: Evolution of the Two Rounds of China-US Trade Conflicts", in which he reviewed the evolution of China-US trade frictions, pointed out that it had entered a long-term institutional structural game, and deeply analyzed its profound impact on the global industrial chain and financial system, thus laying a solid foundation for subsequent topic for discussion.

Subsequently, QIN Yong, Chief Economist of the Treasury and Trading Department at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (China) Limited, delivered a speech titled "Restructuring of China's Trade Relations under the China-US Trade Conflicts", with focus on China's response strategies in the current situation. Based on a broad range of cases and data, he analyzed the urgency and significance to restructure China's trade relations, comprehensively showed the current international trade development, and accurately revealed the hidden opportunities and challenges, thus providing enterprises with macro-level strategic thinking to respond to the trade conflicts.

In the final roundtable discussion session hosted by Associate Professor LI Jiangyuan, three guests including CHEN Xin, Professor of SUFE-DAFI and Director of the Capital Market Research Center, QIN Yong, Economist from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and CAI Jun, General Manager of Shanghai Hongqiao International Imported Commodities Exhibition and Sales Co., Ltd. were invited to conduct multi-dimensional discussion on the "Trade Restructuring and Risk Management under the China-US Tariff War". Combining theoretical analysis and practical experience, the three guests respectively put forward insightful views from different perspectives such as supply chain stability, policy response, and application of financial instruments, thus providing enterprise managers with specific strategies to respond to the current trade situation.

Relying on its intensive output and well-targeted topics, the Salon was highly praised by the participants. It was fully enrolled within only two days, and all seats were occupied at the Event, demonstrating enterprises’ high attention to the current international situation and their demand for knowledge.
