
Recently, Professor CHEN Xin, former professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), has officially joined Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institute (“DAFI” or the “Institute”) and will serve as Director of the Capital Market Research Center.
Professor CHEN Xin’s appointment will significantly strengthen DAFI’s research and teaching capabilities in capital market-related fields, providing robust support for the Institute’s discipline development in corporate finance, accounting, and capital markets. Looking ahead, DAFI will adhere to its mission of “rooting in Lingang, serving the whole country, and embracing the globe”, continue to aggregate world-class academic resources, deepen international first-class educational cooperation, and build a hub for nurturing emerging finance talents.
Professor CHEN Xin obtained his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Minnesota in 2005. He has taught at the School of Business of Renmin University of China, Antai College of Economics and Management of SJTU, and the School of Economics of Yunnan University. Since 2018, he has served as a full-time Professor at SAIF, SJTU. He has also held part-time positions or conducted visiting research at internationally renowned institutions such as the World Bank, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), and Aarhus University (Denmark).

In terms of academic research, Professor CHEN Xin has published numerous English papers on China’s capital market in internationally renowned journals, including Accounting and Finance, Asian Business and Management, China Economic Review, China Journal of Accounting Research, Information Technology and Management, Journal of International Accounting Research, Management and Organization Review, and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. He has also published dozens of papers in leading domestic journals such as Management World, Accounting Research, Journal of Financial Research, Auditing Research, Journal of Finance and Economics, Chinese Journal of Management, and Journal of Central University of Finance and Economics. As a CNKI 2024 Top 5% Highly Cited Scholar, he has strong presence in China’s accounting and capital market research fields.
In industrial practice, Professor CHEN Xin once served as Assistant Director of the Yunnan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, gaining experience in macro-coordination of fiscal finance and investment. He also served as Chairman of Yunnan Credit Enhancement Company. Currently, he holds concurrent positions as a Member of the Independent Director Committee of the China Association of Listed Companies, Independent Director of listed companies such as Shanghai Lingang Holdings Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Bank Co., Ltd., and External Director of Yunnan Investment Holding Group. He possesses extensive practical experience in large-scale business administration and capital market decision-making.
In social service, Professor CHEN Xin has long participated in political consultation and policy-making through democratic parties and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) channels. He has successively served as a Member of the Yunnan Provincial CPPCC, Deputy Chairman of the CNDCA (China National Democratic Construction Association) SJTU Committee, Deputy Director of the Finance and Economics Committee of CNDCA Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Member of the Xuhui District CPPCC. During his tenure, he has repeatedly received awards and recognition for his contributions to political consultation, public opinion collection, and social service. Additionally, Professor CHEN Xin has submitted a large number of policy recommendations to the Chinese authorities on topics such as high-quality development of the capital market. These recommendations have been adopted by relevant departments including the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the General Office of the State Council, the National Committee of the CPPCC, and authorities in Shanghai and Yunnan, and have repeatedly received instructions from national and provincial leaders.
In teaching, Professor CHEN Xin has solid experience covering undergraduate, master’s, MBA, EMBA, doctoral programs, and Executive Education (EE). His courses combine theoretical depth with practical relevance, making him highly popular among students. His core courses - Corporate Finance, Principles of Accounting, and Financial Statement Analysis, have all received near-perfect teaching evaluations. The cases he developed have been included in internationally renowned case libraries such as the Ivey Case Library (Canada), and the theses he supervised have won provincial-level awards for “Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation” and “Outstanding MBA Dissertation”.
Furthermore, Professor CHEN Xin has long focused on hot topics in the capital market, writing professional analysis articles for major financial media outlets including Securities Market Weekly, Securities Times, Caixin.com, Sina Finance, The Paper, Tencent Think Tank, NetEase Finance, China Reform, Board Director, China Daily, and Economic Observer. He has also been widely interviewed or invited as a guest by media such as The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, China Central Television (CCTV), and China Business News (CBN), enjoying broad influence in the media and industry.
