This is one of the key layouts made by Lingang New Area, as a testing ground for overlaying national and Shanghai strategies, in focusing on the high-quality development of finance in China.
However, how to make talents stay in Lingang, especially young people stay in Lingang and take root in Lingang, this is another place that needs to be broken through in addition to the financial and industrial layout of Lingang. Recently, closely focusing on the new area of Lingang to build a young city, young people's city, the new area of Lingang, together with the Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institude, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, has launched a high-cost scholarship program, in order to attract more senior talents to gather.
At the 2nd Dishui Lake Emerging Finance Conference held on December 8, Liu Yuanchun, President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Dean of Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institude, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, announced the establishment of Lingang Elite Series Scholarship. The program includes two types of scholarships, respectively named "Lingang Jingying Scholarship" "Lingang Jingyang Scholarship". On this basis, in order to encourage students to participate in the construction of Lingang, at the same time set up "Lingang Jinghua Scholarship". The program runs through students' classroom learning, international exchange, internship and employment and other stages of training.
A drop of water stirs up dreams and finance navigates the future
Among them, "Lingang Jingying Scholarship" is aimed at attracting many outstanding students to actively choose Lingang and choose to receive the most cutting-edge education in DAFI, and to provide appropriate financial support for the initial stage of their studies. The maximum award of Lingang Elite Scholarship can reach 250,000 yuan, and up to 10 people are selected and awarded each year, which is the highest amount in China.
"Lingang Jingyang Scholarship" is aimed at encouraging the outstanding students of DAFI to be based in Lingang and to run to the world. It provides supportive financial guarantee for students to boldly go abroad to study and exchange in overseas universities or scientific research institutions, or to undertake internships and receive practical training in overseas financial and trade organizations. Students who meet the selection criteria will be awarded up to 200,000 yuan per academic year, with a maximum of 10 students per year, which is currently the highest amount in China.
In addition, in order to encourage students to start their own business in Lingang after graduation and devote themselves to the construction of new financial business in Lingang New Area, "Lingang Jinghua Scholarship" is established on the basis of "Lingang Jingying Scholarship" or "Lingang Jingyang Scholarship", and 100,000 yuan will be awarded if students choose Lingang after graduation. This is also the first of its kind in China.
It is reported that since the operation of DAFI, it has been focusing on cultivating all kinds of talents urgently needed for the development of emerging finance. In order to support the emerging financial development of Lingang, DAFI will add new program directions such as ESG finance and cross-border finance in 2024, and 80% of the students applying for the 2024 MBA will come from Lingang.
Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institude, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is jointly established by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Lingang New Area Management Committee and Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. and is subordinate to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to adopt a special management system of the second-level colleges, which is located in the core of the Dishui Lake Financial Bay. The first 41 Master of Finance students were enrolled in Lingang in September this year.
