On November 9, SUFE President Liu Yuanchun visited the Media Center of the Lin-gang Exhibition Area at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and attended a roundtable dialogue themed on “Embracing the New, Linking the Future” together with Lu Ting, Chief China Economist of Nomura Securities.

The roundtable dialogue was broadcast live and presided over by Chen Xuanjuan, Executive Dean of Dishui Lake Advanced Finance Institute, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE-DAFI). SUFE President Liu Yuanchun and Chief Economist Lu Ting were present as guests.
The event, which attracted over 100,000 global viewers, invited the guests to focus on China’s top-level financial plan and have in-depth discussions on the following topics: the driving force for China’s economic recovery in the short term and in the medium and long term, the interpretation of the general idea of the Central Financial Work Conference, how to promote the integrated development of green finance and technology finance, Lin-gang Special Area’s potential in cross-border finance, and the future functions of SUFE.
According to Mr. Liu Yuanchun, Lin-gang ought to stress opening up, align with the best policies and measures of international financial hubs, and promote pilots and trials with greater intensity and courage. The key is to liberalize and internationalize fund settlement and exchange, and to play a greater role in promoting cross-border data flows and building new financial infrastructure.
Lu Ting believed that Lin-gang, as a satellite town of Shanghai, enjoys a superior geographical location and significant economic significance. In the face of great changes unseen in a century, Lin-gang should learn from and catch up with state-of-the-art technologies and processes in key fields in order to become China's Silicon Valley.
The discussion also addressed the strategic conception and positioning of SUFE-DAFI and its leading role in the development of Lin-gang Special Area.

Visiting Lin-gang Exhibition Area
Foreign-invested companies participate in CIIE as an industrial cluster for the first time
Prior to the roundtable dialogue, Mr. Liu Yuanchun and others visited the Lin-gang Exhibition Area and learned about its basic information.
This year, Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area has organized nearly a hundred multinational companies to participate in the exhibition and demonstrate their high-quality development through new technologies, new business formats, and new models. With a total area of 2,700m2, the Lin-gang Exhibition Area was jointly established by the Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area Administration and Lingang Group. As the first “comprehensive enterprise exhibition area” to take part in CIIE as an industrial cluster, theLin-gang Exhibition Area features businesses from 23 countries and regions. Many of the exhibits represent cutting-edge technology from across the globe as well as frontier advancements in emerging fields.

In addition to new friends, new attractions, new technologies, and new services, there was another attractive landscape at the National Exhibition and Convention Center – the volunteers from SUFE, often nicknamed “Little Leaves.” After the roundtable dialogue, Mr. Liu Yuanchun paid a visit to these volunteers who worked hard and provided warm services at CIIE. He told the students to take care of themselves and expressed his gratitude for their dedication. Also, Liu encouraged them to engage in financial practice while acquiring professional knowledge, integrate industry, academia and research, and apply what they have learned to social work. The students were inspired to foster patriotism, align their ambitions with collective goals, and combine theories with China's reality, bloomingthe lovely flowers of youth where our motherland needs them most.
SUFE-DAFI’s journey at CIIE has now come to a successful end. As Mr. Liu Yuanchun stated, through talent training and think tank construction, SUFE-DAFI aspires to promote Lin-gang Special Area to grow into a special economic function zone with stronger international influence and competitiveness, support the all-round function upgrading of Shanghai as an international financial center, and contribute wisdom and strength to the national and even global financial development.
